reDiscover with Shiva Mandell

Camera Projecta

Situated in the building that houses the famous Camera Obscura on Palisades Park, Camera Projecta by reDiscover with Shiva Mandell invited the public to enter into the artmaking process. Using reclaimed materials obtained through the non-profit organization reDiscover, visitors were able to engage in visual storytelling through the manipulation of various materials, all placed on the flatbed screens of opaque projectors. The images created at ten projector stations were broadcast onto the large windows facing west and north, acting as a kind of reverse Camera Obscura for the audience in Palisades Park. This project had lines formed out the door until 3 AM as people waited to have a turn making images.
